Student Support Services

The Student Support department is happy to welcome our school community to Term 1, 2021. We are here to provide assistance for our students to be able to perform at their best - mentally, socially, academically and beyond. We offer a range of programs throughout the year to support students in their learning and wellbeing and provide inclusive opportunities that cater to our diverse learners.

In Term 1, we are excited to have two new additions to the Learning Support team; teachers Inass Fayad and Emine Yilmaz, who will be working primarily with selected VCE students focusing on organisational and study skills. We welcome back our Learning Support Teacher, Gunes Asik, and our school counsellors Gonul Dirican and Saffiah El Attar.

During this term, Saffiah is delivering the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program, ‘Mind Up’, in all Year 7 classes on a weekly basis. This program aims to promote the development of skills to aid the transition of our Year 7s into their first year of secondary school. We also intend to encourage help-seeking behaviours amongst students through regular interaction with our counsellors.

Student Support is also thrilled to be implementing the Literacy Support program in which Learning Support Teachers provide targeted intervention for a small group of students.
